What
do we do?
Following
on from
the success
of our
grant-funded
aerobics
classes
in Ladywood,
Sport 4
Life UK
has developed
a unique
10-week
aerobics
programme
designed
specifically
for underprivileged
women.
The course
incorporates
weekly
hour-long
aerobics
classes,
healthy
eating
workshops,
exercising-at-home
demonstrations,
and introductions
to mainstream
gym classes,
and is
being sold
to organisations
in the
local public
and third
sectors.

What have
we achieved?
A specialist
service
has filled
a clear
gap in
community
provision,
and is
aiming
to help
hundreds
of women
to improve
their cardio-vascular
fitness,
to lose
weight,
and to
feel more
healthy.
Our focus
on educating
women in
healthy
lifestyle
issues
and on
inspiring
increased
independent
exercise,
moreover,
is ensuring
that this
short-term
intervention
programme
has lasting
effects
beyond
the 10
weeks.

What do
our clients
think?
“It
has been
really
good to
have the
babies
looked
after while
the mum
does sport...can
we have
two sessions
a week?” Vian

What
do our
partner
organisations
think?
“I
am so pleased
to see
the Sport4LifeUK
aerobics
class up
and running.
There was
an expressed
need amongst
the women
I work
with in
Ladywood
for a free
exercise
class which
welcomes
mothers
and children
alike.
The class
has enabled
women who
normally
would not
be able
to access
such activities
to improve
their health
and fitness.”
