Paul Turner MB ChB MRCGP
Paul
is a GP
at the

a Clinical
Director
in Mental
Health for
the South
Birmingham
PCT. He advises
the Birmingham & Solihull
Mental Health
Trust on
the interface
between primary
and secondary
care. He
has a special
interest
in the effects
of exercise
on well being
and is passionate
about action
on inequality.
Karen
Hill MA B.Ed(Hons)
Karen
is currently
Head of PE
at Swanshurst
Girls School,
having previously
served as
Director
of Sport
at a secondary school that achieved both the Sportsmark Gold Award and the title of 2005’s most improved Sports College nationally.
Karen has
led successful
bids for
innovative
School Sports
Centre developments,
is an Advanced
Skills Teacher,
and is an
active member
of the Association
for Physical
Education.
At the heart
of her philosophy
is developing
communities
through sport
and developing
sport through
the community
with a commitment
towards PE
for life.
Alison
Nicholas MBE
Alison Nicholas
is a golf
professional,
and former
British Women’s
Open and
US Women’s
Open champion.
She was named
a Member
of the Order
of the British
Empire in
1998 for “services
to women’s
golf”,
and was recently
appointed
as Europe’s
Solheim Cup
Captain for
2009. She
has dedicated
her career
to sport,
and is passionate
about extending
sporting
participation
to marginalised
and deprived
peoples.

city school
sport coordination,
and has a

in addressing
inequalities

He has a
passion for

and is both entrepreneurial
and a keen
project manager.

Rachel is
a graduate
in History

of Manchester.
Her background
is in education,
having successfully
worked for
several years
in the administration
and delivery
of after-school
activities
and summer
clubs for
young people
aged between
11 and 18.
She is passionate
about helping
young people
to realise
their potential,
and is keen
to focus
upon the
promotion
of sport
for young
girls and
women.
